Tomorrow's Quilts - Newletter 2 - August 2016

August is Here!
Summer Sun and Back to School!!!

July was wonderful! I hope everyone enjoyed our Christmas in July sale!!! It is hard to believe that we only have 12 more Fridays left before Christmas is here!!!! The year is just flying by - School starts back August the 22nd for most of us, myself included. Tina, Sue, Ellen and Anna will be holding the fort down while I am at campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Virginia has had to retire fully and we will miss her deeply, but we will see her as she brings in shop samples. Speaking of which if any of you ladies would like to be sample makers please let me know, I would love to have some more sewists on board!!!

We are still working diligently on getting the website full of the pictures and all the inventory re-entered into the system. We have a classroom full of fabric I am trying to find room for!! Quickly outgrew the available space with all this new and wonderful fabric!! I have had a suggestion that I have decided to implement - all of you who are currently members of the Premier Club will be moved to its new Time - 10am on the last Saturday of the month, I will then add a second time slot of 1pm and a third at 4pm if that one fills up - come in and sign up quick once these are full you will have to wait until May 2017 to sign up!  Thank you all for making this club a great success - I am looking forward already to next month and the show and tell that occurs at the beginning of our time together!!!

There are many exciting things occurring in August !!! Here is a short but wonderful list:
Handi Quilter is offering a Longarm Start Up Special - Buy a Sweet Sixteen and receive a free Glide Foot and Table Extension! Buy any Longarm and receive free electromagnetic Channel Locks, Ruler Base and Versa tool!!! What a great time to buy a longarm!!!

NEW!!!!   Color of the Month is Green - receive 10% off all green fabric (this is fabric that "reads" green, not just solids) throughout the month! This may turn into a Color of the Week if I start sending out emails more frequently so stay on the lookout!

Classes and Clubs for August:

August 2 kicked off our month long Beginning Quilters Class - This class is the follow-up to our Introduction to Quilting Class. Students in this class will choose their pattern, fabric, and begin creating their quilt top. This class meets every Tuesday evening from 5-7pm for four weeks and will be followed by our Intermediate Quilt Class.

August 3rd (Yes Tomorrow!) Longarm Club at 10am - This monthly club is open to any longarmer who would like to come and share their experiences as well as learn from others. Each month I will also demonstrate a technique, ruler, foot, or gadget.

August 3-5: Stitchers Camp - Ages 8 & up with no experience will learn about their machines, and begin creating their first sewing projects in this three day summer camp from 10 -12 each day.

August 13th - Fold 'n Stitch Wreath Class from 10-1 - This class will cover the technique for creating a fold n stitch wreath, bloom or leaf table topper/wreath. Pick out your pattern, your fabrics and your foam inserts and join us for the fun filled class!

AUGUST 18TH AT 6PM WE WILL HOST OUR FIRST GAME NIGHT!!!!!! The only way to find out about this is through our newsletter - so please forward it to your friends!!! The first tables will play from 6pm to 6:50pm sharp - the second set begins at 7pm sharp and ends at 7:50 and the last set of tables begin playing at 8pm and end at 8:50pm. The last hour is the wine hour, you may bring wine to this game hour only. Please bring snacks to share during your game time. I will be compiling a game night cookbook at the end of next year with the best of the snacks brought! This game night you will need to bring 20 (Twenty) 2 1/2" strips of fabric (think jelly roll orphans). You will receive a free quilt pattern for attending game night. This is a fabric swap game so be prepared to have some fun with your friends while petting fabric!!!! You must  call and reserve your seat at the tables! Each hour is limited to 18 people so if you are wanting to be in a certain group make sure you get together and decide on your hour before each of you call to reserve your place - we cannot take reservations for groups, as we need to make sure each person is dedicated to coming so the maximum amount of fun can be had by all. If you can't make it to the game after you have made reservations please call at least 48 hours prior to game night so we can call people on the waiting list.

The Third Prairie Women's Circle will be August 20th at 2pm!
I am excited to be hosting this circle where we learn about our fore-mothers and the history and art of quilting all as we learn how to "make do" share fabric with each other and make yo-yos together! Don't forget to bring a 6" square of BLUE Civil War fabric for our swap!!!Journey two will begin in January 2017 for those of you who missed beginning this journey with us you may join in the fun on Journey 2.
